It's now July 3 and I have only had my new canoe for a few days and all I have to say is "wow". My old canoe that was an ark at 90lbs has been retired from my use and gone to a cottage lover who can enjoy it for the rest of its years. My new Red lake is great. I have only had it in the water once, but found it very stable for tandem use. Can't wait to load it down and really test it. I like the lightness of it too. I do alot of fishing and solo, so this canoe will be awesome for those used to be tiresome portages. Looking foreword to many great canoeing years with this Red Lake.

Thanks guys.

I’ve paddled and carried these canoes on several trips over the past year or so and have been impressed with how well they perform. They paddle extremely well, carry a significant load, and are tough enough to withstand the occasional bump on a ‘lurker’ or against an unseen chunk of granite. That’s only the beginning though, as most canoe routes in Nova Scotia require a portage or three. That’s where these boats set themselves apart from many others. Their weight, or lack of it, allows them to be carried some distance solo. Heavier canoes require frequent stops on all but the shortest portages. On a recent day trip, we carried the canoe thru several portages. Some were quite short, more of a pull over between two lakes, however, 5 were significant lengths of 300 to 1000 meters. We simply would not have been able to complete the trip without a light weight canoe to ease the burden thru the carries along with the other necessary gear.

Recently had the opportunity to spend a day fishing from a Prospector and was very impressed. Covered more than 20 km of lakes and brook, and almost 3 km of portages carrying the canoe solo with a daypack! Not something I would have even attempted with my 16 foot Old Town which now feels very heavy in comparison. Was very impressed with how easy it was to maneuver through a twisting brook yet took little effort to keep on course on the lakes. Good stability, no problems with two of us fishing from it all day or getting in and out at the portages. It stood up well to the many rocks we found just below the surface and at the shoreline, and even the few trees it bounced off during the portages. Sitting in it you’d never know it was a lightweight canoe. It was wonderful experience.

After years of using an old hand-me-down canoe passed along to me from my father, I finally had worn it out. I had purchased a Red Lake canoe in the fall of 2006 but got to put many miles on it before it was stowed for the winter. It is an extremely well build and light canoe. I can comfortably port the canoe and my gear in one trip through the woods and not have to make a second trip. The canoe is awesome. I love it! It’s so light and strong, perfect for me! I can’t wait till the ice is gone off the lakes. This canoe was recomended to me and now I can easily recomend it to you. Happy tripping! Oh yeah, nice new site. Glad to see you on line now.
