It's now July 3 and I have only had my new canoe for a few days and all I have to say is "wow". My old canoe that was an ark at 90lbs has been retired from my use and gone to a cottage lover who can enjoy it for the rest of its years. My new Red lake is great. I have only had it in the water once, but found it very stable for tandem use. Can't wait to load it down and really test it. I like the lightness of it too. I do alot of fishing and solo, so this canoe will be awesome for those used to be tiresome portages. Looking foreword to many great canoeing years with this Red Lake.

I’ve paddled and carried these canoes on several trips over the past year or so and have been impressed with how well they perform. They paddle extremely well, carry a significant load, and are tough enough to withstand the occasional bump on a ‘lurker’ or against an unseen chunk of granite. That’s only the beginning though, as most canoe routes in Nova Scotia require a portage or three. That’s where these boats set themselves apart from many others. Their weight, or lack of it, allows them to be carried some distance solo. Heavier canoes require frequent stops on all but the shortest portages. On a recent day trip, we carried the canoe thru several portages. Some were quite short, more of a pull over between two lakes, however, 5 were significant lengths of 300 to 1000 meters. We simply would not have been able to complete the trip without a light weight canoe to ease the burden thru the carries along with the other necessary gear.
